This sustainability report for New World Development explores the traditional Chinese concept of “Round Heaven, Square Earth”「天圓地方」 as its central visual idea. Circular and square forms are translated into a contemporary graphic system, reflecting balance between nature, people and the built environment while giving the report a distinctive cultural character.
Imapct:
The final design created a cohesive visual identity that connected sustainability with a sense of cultural context. The circular and square motifs provided a flexible framework across the report, helping organise complex information while giving the publication a more recognisable and meaningful visual character.
Challenges:
The challenge was to turn a traditional philosophical concept into a visual language that felt modern rather than decorative or overly literal. The system also needed to work consistently across a content-heavy sustainability report, balancing conceptual expression with readability, hierarchy and corporate communication.
