Stepping Away
From Print to Digital
Ten Years Later
After graduating from HKDI in 2015, I began my design career at a printing company, where I learned the fundamentals of traditional print production.
It was where I first understood that design does not end on a screen. Paper, colour, materials, finishing and production all shape how an idea eventually becomes something real.
I later moved into agency work across editorial, advertising and branding. These years strengthened my graphic design foundation and taught me how to turn ideas into clear visual communication for different clients and audiences.
At one point, I decided to step away from design and spend a year in the UK on a working holiday. It was a pause from the career path I had been following, and a chance to experience life outside the design industry.
Sometimes stepping away gives you a different perspective on what you want to return to.
After returning to Hong Kong, I moved from agency work into an in-house role.
My practice expanded from print and branding into animation, websites and UI. The medium changed, but the goal stayed the same: finding the right visual language for each idea.
Tools change. People remain at the heart of design. After ten years, I’ve learned that judgement, communication and trust matter as much as craft. I bring my own point of view, but I also value listening, collaboration and finding the right answer together.
